How to Repair Concrete Cancer in a Car Park
Concrete cancer is a problem that many owners of strata properties must deal with from time to time.
Ongoing Water Leaks, Logistical Problems and Angry Tenants
This was certainly the case for owners within an apartment complex situated in the Perth suburb of Subiaco.
As a result of the cancer, the lower carpark of the complex, as well as the storerooms, were inundated with water when it rained.
The team at Stable Commercial were asked to fix the problem.
Stable Commercial immediately identified one of the main causes of the cancer – a lack of expansion joints within the concrete causing a large concrete dividing slab to crack when it expanded and contracted as a result of changes in temperature.
The team cleaned the slab before grounding back the surface.
A 20 Year Guarantee Against Water Leaks
They then cut 3 X expansion joints to a depth of 40mm.
All the bad cracks were ground out and filled with a polyurethane grout.
Then the whole surface was then primed, and base coated twice before crystal sand was dispersed for anti-slip.
Finally a top coat was applied, and white lines were completed three days later.
As always, the job was completed with a 20 Year Warranty.
