Concrete Cancer Fixed in St Georges Terrace Perth
Stable Commercial have a habit of solving problems related to concrete cancer in buildings.
This was the case when the team at Stable tackled and fixed a problem for commercial residents of a property situated in the Perth CBD, near Trinity Arcade, St Georges Terrace.
At the time, tenants of the building regularly reported seeing cracking concrete in the fire escape of the building. In fact, the problem was so bad that on occasions, the concrete actually flaked and fell to the ground.
To complicate matters, the Council of Owners had not been able to solve the problem, even though they had solicited several engineering reports over the years.
A thorough investigation by Stable revealed two related issues with the building that could be solved through a combination of major concrete repair, and concrete waterproofing.
The Stable Commercial team initially worked on the roof of the building where they found that several cooling tanks were located in concrete pits had corroded, resulting in water seeping into surrounding concrete and into the fire escape.
As a result, the team worked extensively in and around the tanks, located the source of the leaking water; cut, replaced and seeled areas of corroded steel; and resurfaced areas where concrete had eroded, including the fire escape.
According to Eddie Ostler, owner of Stable Commercial, the job was a complete success.
As part of the contract, Stable Commercial issued a 10-year guarantee on the completed works.
The tenants were happy.
And so too were the Council of Owners.
