Retail Defit Cannington Western Australia
At the end of a lease, a commercial space needs to be stripped back to its original condition—a process known as a make-good or de-fit. That’s exactly what Stable Commercial was called in to do for EB Games in Cannington.
The Job Brief
The contractor handling the new fit-out for EB Games reached out to Ed Ostler and his team to see if they could defit the space and bring it back to its original shell. The job involved a full-scale strip-out, removing everything that had been added over the years.
The De-fit Process
The first step was removing all furniture, tables, chairs, and internal stud walls—and there were plenty. Every room had to be dismantled.
Then came the flooring. Carpets, lino, and tiles were all ripped up, with jackhammers and floor sanders used to take it back to base.
Once the space was cleared, the team moved on to repairs and servicing:
- Troffer lights (strip lights) repaired and working again.
- Roller door serviced.
- Air conditioning checked and serviced.
- Internal walls given two fresh coats of paint.
- Signage and logos on the glass windows removed.
- Facade signage painted out.
- Security blinds restored to full working order.
By the time Stable Commercial was done, EB Games Cannington was back to a blank canvas, ready for the next tenant to make it their own.
